Background

His name was 008.

One of the first to be brought to the massive new institute, Am-Nova, unaware of the horrors that were to befall him. No more than three years of age, the young boy was 'wiped'; memories stripped from him, desires and needs cleansed from his psyche in an attempt to prepare the body for the experimentation to come. His pod was number '008', and thus his new title was granted. The pod was to be his home, his sanctuary; a place where, after the intensive gene therapy he was to undergo, he would be returned to heal. The pod was safety.

Years passed, and slowly, the results of the genetic manipulation being carried out on The 15 was drawing to its stupendous climax. Breakthroughs were appearing left and right, and all seemed to be under control. 008 found himself changing physically; bones stronger, muscles able to work for far longer before tiring, but the most impressive was his ability to draw energy from the life-force of another, effectively draining them of their essence, their will to live, and gaining an immense surge of power. However, his was not the only body to change so dramatically.

Considered the most dangerous of The 15. A being that had to be 'terminated'; locked out of sight so as not to allow him the possibility of escape. A being so dangerous, there was talk of terminating him 'permanently'. 013 was manipulative, a power of mind that had been an unexpected side-effect of the experimentation carried out on him. He had managed to sway many of The 15 in his original incarceration in Am-Nova to believing that the 'work' being done on them was nothing more than torture, that they had once had lives before this place.
